Amelia Gillis is a native of Orlando, Florida. She graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in Sarasota, FL. During her years as a graduate student, Amelia started her work with individuals with anxiety issues, mood disorder, identity concerns, and grief issues, She developed the ability to be clinically fluid in dealing with a wide variety of psychological and relationship concerns.
Today, Amelia serves as a Licensed Mental Health Clinician and Consultant in the Central Florida area.
She has an extensive background in working with a wide range of clients in a variety of treatment settings since 2015.
Her areas of emphasis with children includes mood disorders, conduct disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, and many others.
Her area of expertise with adults includes working with those who have had varying degrees of trauma, various types of physical and/or sexual abuse, identity formation, abandonment and/or neglect experiences, depression, anxiety disorders, general mood disorders,
post-traumatic stress disorder, and unhealthy family systems.
Her approach to counseling is an integration of cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused therapy, humanistic, and eclectic therapies. She is proud to be able to be an empathic clinician as she embraces diversity in her clients. By taking a holistic, multicultural approach to counseling that values wellness and personal empowerment, Amelia strives to create a collaborative client-therapist relationship that assists clients in a deeper understanding of their concerns and how best to manage and resolve their issues for themselves.
Amelia is the founder of AG Counseling & Consulting, LLC., A mental wellness counseling and consulting agency.
Their mission is to educate and assist clients in achieving optimal success by helping them to develop personal, educational, and vocational goals. To facilitate change, they know that an individual must fully accept themselves as a person of worth, dignity, and potential. Therefore, they seek to help clients set the foundation of learning who they are. As well as, guide them in how to make the most of their own qualities that they can utilize to make their own unique contributions to a multicultural society.
Amelia is passionate about teaching others how to find the strength within to overcome obstacles. She strives to bring an effective blend of experience, expertise, clarity, concern, and action to the counseling process in order to maximize outcomes and provide genuine healing and wholeness to individuals and families.
Furthermore, she serves her community through community forums, educational seminars, and mentorship. Her joy is found in serving others. Personally, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
